TORONTO, Ont. – Police are searching for a driver they said blasted through a RIDE check at high speed at Finch and Highway 400 Tuesday night.
Ontario Provincial Police officers pursued the vehicle, which reached speeds of 160 kilometres an hour, south on the 400 to Highway 401 and west along the 401 to Weston Road where the vehicle left the highway and went north.
The driver later ditched the vehicle near a school in the Weston Road and Sheppard Avenue area.
Police closed off the area while they searched for the male driver seen running off on foot.
Police dogs were brought in but the suspect got away.
