New bus bypass lanes on the Don Valley parkway are getting the green light.
When traffic is moving at 60 kilometres an hour or slower, GO buses will now have access to about four kilometres of the special lanes in two separate sections between St. Dennis Drive and Pottery Road.
Emergency vehicles and broken down vehicles will also be able to use the lanes.
The project will require a change in the outside shoulder lanes in order to maintain the current number of lanes.
The first bus by-pass lanes along a more northerly section of the DVP were unveiled as a pilot project in 2010.
