TORONTO, Ont. – A Peel Regional police officer has died following a multi-vehicle crash near Orangeville.

Constable Ewa Domagalska suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision, Saturday, and succumbed to her injuries at a Toronto hospital early Monday morning.

“Peel Police sadly announce the passing of PC Ewa Domagalska overnight. She will be missed by her family, friends, co-workers and community,” Peel Police tweeted on Monday morning.

“Ewa, her family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. This is a difficult time for her colleagues, and for the organization,” they said in an earlier tweet on Sunday, noting that Domagalska had been with Peel Regional Police since 2005.

Funeral arrangements have not been confirmed at this time.

Off duty at the time of the collision, she was driving one of three motorcycles involved in the crash, which included an SUV.

“At this point, what we know so far is one motorcycle collided with the SUV. Beyond that, we’re still having our OPP technical traffic investigators are examining the scene…They’re piecing it all together,” Const. Paul Nancekivell told CityNews.

The collision took place on Airport Road between Highway 9 and Fifth Side road in the town of Mono. Further investigation revealed that a southbound Honda motorcycle driven by Domagalska collided with a northbound Chrysler SUV. Another female motorcycle driver was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, while the male driver of the third motorcycle was not injured. The man driving the SUV also did not sustain injuries.

Police continue to investigate the collision with the assistance of OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the investigating officer Provincial Constable Al Buck of the Dufferin OPP Detachment at (519)-925-3838.
