A Canadian woman from Mississauga is among three climbers who died returning from the top of Mount Everest, Saturday, while a Nepalese mountaineering official says two more climbers are missing.
Despite favourable conditions on Friday and Saturday morning, a wind storm swept through on Saturday afternoon. It’s believed the three climbers suffered exhaustion and altitude sickness.
The Nepal-born Canadian has been identified as Shriya Shah, who ran as a candidate in the last provincial election. The two other climbers were a 61-year-old German doctor and a South Korean Mountaineer.
The two missing climbers are a Chinese national and his Sherpa guide.
