TORONTO, Ont. – Victoria Day is almost here, as thousands are hitting the road to get away for the first unofficial long weekend of the summer.
The long weekend is here and the fact that it’s going to actually feel like summer is a bonus. If you’re staying in town for the weekend there is still plenty to do.
But if you’re heading out of town the Ontario Provincial Police will be watching drivers from the air, on the roads and on the water, and with the significant increase in traffic.
Also, 680News cottage country traffic is back. News director Scott Metcalfe said the goal is to make the trip to the cottage the best it can be.
“Traffic can be stressful, and as they say, it’s not the driver’s fault, it’s not the passenger’s fault, it’s the asphalt — and we can help you navigate the highways to get you to the cottage and back hopefully as stress-free as possible,” Metcalfe said.
680News will now have cottage country traffic reports airing every 10 minutes on the “nines” starting at 3 p.m. Friday.
