OTTAWA – An artist in Kingston has created quite a stir with a nude painting of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

The painting is now on display in an exhibit at a public library.

MP’s have many different views about whether the portrait is appropriate or not.

The painting has Harper in his birthday suit with a dog at his feet and someone serving him a Tim Horton’s coffee on a platter.

Conservatives, like government whip Gordon O’Connor, believe this is crude, inappropriate and it crosses the line.

“Well I mean it’s outrageous. The artist is trying to be outrageous,” O’Connor stated.

Others call it artistic expression saying it’s a protest message against the government.

NDP house leader Nathan Cullen says his stomach turned.

“You know, there’s a of images I wouldn’t want to have in my mind. That one might be near the top of the list,” said Cullen.

Liberal Scott Brison gave his tongue in cheek opinion.

“The notion of any portrayal of Stephen Harper nude to be offensive for different reasons, those related to morality… but I just hope that the portrait is well hung,” said Briston.

One MP said it is the last thing he wanted to see before a long weekend, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
