TORONTO, Ont. – A group of parents is holding a news conference, Tuesday, calling on Premier Dalton McGuinty to stop impending cuts at the Toronto District School Board.
The news conference will be held at 9:45 a.m. at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute.
The TDSB is trying to erase a $58-million deficit, and board staff are talking about a 40 per cent hike in permit fees, cutting support staff and closing cafeterias.
The parents will be telling McGuinty that “public education must be adequately funded.”
Trustees will be debating the proposed cuts at a meeting set for June 13.
