TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police have charged a 43-year-old Toronto cab driver with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a skateboarder on Monday.
Adib Ibrahim is scheduled to appear in court, Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Ralph Bissonnette, 28, of Toronto, died after allegedly being struck down by a taxi on King Street, near Jarvis Street.
The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. Monday. Bissonnette was rushed to St. Michael’s hospital with head injuries and broken bones, where he was pronounced dead.
One witness told CityNews the cab was targeting the skateboarder.
“The cab driver got enraged at a skateboarder and veered off of his path and purposely ran him over,” the witness told CityNews.
