Toronto — The so-called “G20 geek,” Byron Sonne, arrested on explosives charges days before the 2010 summit of world leaders in Toronto, has been acquitted of all charges..

A smiling Sonne greeted supporters outside the University Avenue courts on Tuesday.

As soon as sonne walked out of the courthouse, he torn his bail papers in half to the cheers of supporters.

Sonne said he always knew this day would come.

“It’s just utter vindication of everything,” Sonne said. “I’ve been consistent the whole way through. I’ve always told the truth, I’ve always said I’d be acquitted.”

“I’m just totally high on happiness right now.”

The judge rejected the crown’s argument that Byrone Sonne was building G20 bombs. She ruled the chemicals found in sonne’s forest him home were to fuel model rockets.

“It’s a great day for our justice system,” Sonne’s lawyer Joe Deluca said.

So what’s next for Sonne?

“Trying to get my life back in order, get my career rehabilitated and try to get on with things,” he explained.

Sonne said his biggest regret is that his marriage fell apart during his two-year legal fight.

“It’d be nice to be able to walk out of the courthouse into her arms, but that’s just not going to happen,” Sonne said.

Sonne spent 11 months in pretrial custody before being released on bail a year ago.
