TORONTO, Ont. – A woman in her mid 20s collapsed near the finish line of the Sporting Life 10K on Sunday.
She was rushed to hospital and is alive.
Considered to be the biggest run in the country with 25, 000 runners, the Sporting Life 10K ended up raising over $2-million.
All proceeds go to Camp Oochiegeas for Children with Cancer.
Rich Vander Wal, 21, from the Waterloo area came in first place at just over 31 minutes. Even though he was the first to cross the finish line, Vander Wal said the real winners are the kids.
“You know you get the rush, we hit 54 km/h coming down Yonge Street,” he said. “But I guarantee you that’s half the joy the kids get when they’re at the camp.”
