TORONTO, Ont. – One man has died after a tractor trailer and car collided in the westbound lanes on Highway 401 approaching Highway 427 just before 7 a.m. Sunday morning.
According Sgt. David Woodford of the O.P.P., police got a call about a motor vehicle collision, with a BMW crashing into a guardrail and traveling into live lanes.
After coming to a stop in the live westbound lanes, the BMW was struck by a tractor trailer and pushed onto the left shoulder of the highway. The tractor trailer went partially over the cement barrier into the eastbound lanes and the BMW was engulfed in flames.
The driver of the BMW had been pronounced dead at the scene, and the male and female passengers of the tractor trailer were transported to hospital with serious injuries.
