More relief at the gas pumps may not be far away, after the price of oil continued its fall, losing almost a dollar on Friday.

Crude ended the week at $96.13 U.S. per barrel, down almost an entire 8.5 per cent in the past two weeks alone.

Most traders agree the price is falling because of troublesome signs about the global economy, meaning the demand for oil and commodities could drop as a result.

According to gas-price tracking website gasbuddy.com, the average price of regular gas across Canada has dipped to just under $1.28 a litre, down approximately 1.8 cents in the past week.
