TORONTO, Ont. – Torontonians will soon have the opportunity to purchase one of the first pennies ever made in Canada, dating back to 1858.
There will be three of these pennies on sale at the inaugural Toronto Coin Expo, opening May 31 in the city.
Recently, the Royal Canadian Mint stamped the last penny in circulation, announcing that the penny would no longer be produced by the mint.
Each of the three 1858 Canadian pennies could go for up to $900, meaning their value has appreciated by about 9,000 per cent.
