MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police told 680News a 23-year-old Scarborough woman has died in a multi-vehicle collision on the westbound QEW at Mississauga Road, Wednesday.

The westbound QEW was closed from Mississauga Road to Erin Mills Parkway for around seven hours — from around 3 a.m. to around 10 a.m.

OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford told 680News three vehicles and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash.

“A Lincoln Town Car travelling westbound in the right lane rear-ended a Nissan Altima, and then the Nissan spun out, ended up in the sound barrier wall in the right ditch. The Town car went over into the left lane of the highway,” Sgt. Woodford said.

The driver of the Lincoln, which is an Airline Limousine, was then struck by a BMW, which then hit a tractor-trailer. Police said at least four vehicles in total were involved.

“Once we moved all the vehicles, we had to actually bring a sweeper in. There was so much debris from the vehicles – parts of vehicles on the roadway which took a little bit longer to clean up,” Woodford said.

“It was sort of almost like two different collisions.”

The driver of the Lincoln now faces a charge of careless driving.

Police have not released the name of the victim at this time.
