TORONTO, Ont. – Mayor Rob Ford’s “Cut the Waist Challenge” is proving to be quite challenging.
Ford has gained four pounds since his last weigh-in, to 314 pounds. He’s lost 16 pounds since the challenge started.
He started his weight-loss challenge at 330 pounds and has vowed to lose 50 pounds by June.
The mayor’s brother, Councillor Doug Ford, is doing better in the challenge. So far, he is down 28 pounds, at 247 pounds.
Ford didn’t talk to reporters following the weigh-in, but that’s not unusual when things aren’t going his way.
Following a confrontation with Toronto Star reporter Daniel Dale last week, Ford said he wouldn’t talk to the media if Dale was present.
But Councillor Doug Ford did have something to say.
“I feel sorry for Daniel Dale. In my opinion, he was thrown underneath the bus from his own company,” said Councillor Ford.
Dale, who attended the weigh-in, said that is not the case.
