Your barely-worn winter boots do not lie.

Environment Canada confirms last winter was one of the warmest ever recorded in Toronto.

The average temperature in Toronto from December to March was 2.4 C. Normally the average is -2.4 C.

So what happened? Environment Canada’s Dave Phillips told 680News Torontonians just didn’t get the normal Arctic air flow this winter.

“It really comes down to which way the winds blow. And the winds kept blowing from the south and the west,” Phillips explained.

Which left us with no use for our winter boots or snow shovels.

“We kept waiting for winter to arrive but finally it couldn’t because it was all over,” Phillips said. “It was like winter missing in action.”

Toronto only saw 42 centimetres of snow this winter, the lowest amount in 74 years of record-keeping.
