TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police in the northwest end of the city reportedly received a memo to do their part in writing more traffic tickets.
Toronto police have long stated that officers do not have ticket quotas, but only minimum performance standards.
However, in the memo obtained by the Toronto Sun, a police sergeant in 31 Division stated that enforcement officers are expected to write a book of tickets per shift, or 25 tickets a day.
Toronto police reacted to the release of the memo by saying it’s just a temporary measure in response to community complaints.
