No bunny suits or bills for lavish parties are showing up in Toronto councillors’ expense reports this quarter.

A rookie Scarborough councillor tops City Hall’s spending list for the year’s first quarter.

Councillor Michelle Berardinetti spent $11,000 between January 1 and the end of March, slightly more than a third of the $30,000 annual budget, but she told 680News she hasn’t been spending recklessly.

“It’s not spent on capuccino makers, Persian rugs or office furniture,” Berardinetti explained. “It’s spent on getting information to my residents.”

She distributed literature in her ward on the 2012 budget and fridge magnets with important numbers.

Meanwhile, it’s nothing but zeros next to councillor Doug Ford’s name, but he did use $1,000 of his own cash.

Adam Vaughan was the next most frugal at $288. Frank DiGiorgio was second highest at $6,800.

Mayor Rob Ford’s invoice was just shy of $4,000 for newspaper subscriptions, staff Blackberry bills and car expenses.
