TORONTO, Ont. – If you don’t want to be jolted by an annoying pothole on a Toronto city street, there’s an app for that.

The city has introduced a mobile phone application, making it even easier to report that road crater so it will be fixed.

“The city will now instantly know about potholes when they need to be filled,” Toronto Mayor Rob Ford said. “This means that the work gets done quicker, more efficiently and improves customer service excellence that all taxpayers want and deserve.”

The app is available on Blackerrys and iPhones. Once a person submits a pothole’s location, it instantly connects directly to 311 Toronto, the city’s information service, cutting out the need to go through a customer service representative.

goes to staff at the 311 city information line and is dispatched to the pothole team.

Ford announced the app Friday morning while he smoothed out a pothole like a pro at Highway 27 and Humber College Blvd.
