Winter tries to hang on northwest of Toronto, Tuesday, leading to school bus cancellations in Dufferin County.
The Ontario Provincial Police also issued an advisory for drivers in the area to avoid rural roads because of poor road conditions.
Whiteout conditions were reported in Orangeville and other parts of Dufferin County.
“As I am getting closer to Shelburne, there’s lots of blowing snow. All of a sudden I came over the crest of the hill and a wall of snow blowing across the road,” CityNews cameraman Jeff Ducharme told 680News.
Around 20 centimetres of snow fell in parts of the region
CityNews meteorologist Jill Taylor said areas sitting at a higher elevation — such as Guelph, Mount Forest, Shelburne and Orangeville — were hit pretty hard.
School buses have been cancelled for public and Catholic schools in Dufferin Country. The following schools are closed: East Garafraxa Public School, Laurelwoods Elementary School and Primrose Public School.
Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board buses have been cancelled for St. Andrew, St. Benedict and St. Peter elementary schools, and R.F. Hall Secondary School.
