An edited version of the documentary “Bully” has scored a PG-13 rating.

The film, which deals with school bullying, originally received an R rating from The Motion Picture Association of America, due to language.

The Weinstein Co. appealed the rating but the MPAA declined to lower the rating, which would restrict children under 17 from seeing the film without an accompanying adult.

The Weinstein Co. said three uses of an expletive were removed, allowing the MPAA to lower the rating to PG-13.

In a statement released Thursday, the film’s director Lee Hirsh said he felt complete vindicated with the resolution and that he believes PG-13 is the correct rating for his documentary.

In Canada “Bully” is rated PG.
