The parents of Tori Stafford had an extremely difficult day in court, Tuesday, as pictures of their daughter’s remains were revealed as part of testimony detailing the autopsy.

Stafford’s father Rodney left the courtroom while her mother, Tara McDonald, cried as photos were shown on courtroom screens at Michael Rafferty’s murder trail.

Ontario’s chief forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Pollanen took the witness stand and testified about the autopsy he performed on the eight-year-old girl, who was abducted and killed in early April 2009.

He labelled the images as “confronting” even for pathologists.

Earlier, the judge had warned jurors that evidence presented Tuesday would be the worst to date, but they had to decide the case without emotion.

Rafferty, 31, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, sexual assault causing bodily harm and kidnapping.
