Emergency crews worked for hours in the dramatic rescue of a woman from her SUV which became trapped under a tractor trailor rig after it rolled over on Highway 403.

The collision closed the westbound 403 ramp to Dundas Street closed for about two hours.

The woman was transported to hospital by air ambulance where she was treated for minor injuries and released after a few hours.

OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford told 680News crews had to lift the truck before the woman could be rescued.

“We’re hooking up a heavy tow. We’re going to try to lift the tractor trailer up and then move it off the car at the same time so we can get at the female inside the vehicle.”

Woodford said the deep ditch may have saved the woman’s life.

The truck driver also suffered minor injuries.

No word on if any charges will be laid.
