Tips for March Break roadtrips

With the March Break countdown on, you’re likely itching to get a roadtrip going.

Florida is a massively popular march break destination for families, especially if you’re driving.

CityNews meterologist Jill Taylor said even if your destination is sunny and warm, remember don’t forget that you will be driving through areas where tricky weather is still a very real possibility.

“If you’re heading south you’ll likely encounter some wet weather at times today, and especially tomorrow,” Taylor said. “There’ll be showers with a cold front moving through today from Buffalo to about West Virginia, then more showers and isolated thunderstorms tomorrow.”

If you’re heading south along the I-95 Thursday, there’s no rain until you hit Georgia and then some thunderstorms in northern Florida. On the I-75, you’ll hit some showers through Michigan and Ohio.

If you don’t have a GPS, make sure you have mapped out the route to your destination. It’s about 24 hours of straight driving to get to Orlando.

Remember to factor in wait times at the border. U.S Customs and Border Protection posts updates on its website at least once an hour.

And don’t forget your passport – you’ll need it to cross the border.
