Freezing rain warning ends

Dicey road conditions in the GTA and beyond led to a white-knuckled commute for drivers and school bus cancellations, Thursday. Environment Canada’s freezing rain warning has since ended for southern Ontario, including the GTA.

The CAA said the majority of calls they got during the morning rush hour were for tow trucks. At one point, the wait for a tow across the GTA was between 45 minutes to an hour.

Air Canada issued travel advisories for those travelling to Montreal and Ottawa. Passengers are being advised to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.

At Pearson International Airport, there were around 20 cancelled flights and more than 40 delayed flights, Thursday. Most of those are flights were coming in from other areas — the West Coast, East Coast, and Ottawa and Montreal.

WestJet issued a travel advisory for Montreal. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights prior to leaving for the airport.
