MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – The eastbound lanes of the Toronto-bound Queen Elizabeth Way have reopened at Winston Churchill Boulevard following a crash involving a passenger van and a tractor-trailer.

The lanes were closed for around six hours.

Police said the driver of an eastbound passenger van lost control of the vehicle just after 5 a.m., causing the van to ram into the rear of a tractor-trailer hauling a load of television sets.

Ontario Provincial Police said four people were hurt, including one with serious injuries that could be life-threatening.

The truck swerved and flipped over, laying on its side at an angle and blocking all lanes. Fuel was leaking from it as well.

The van ended up mashed up against the guardrail. Its front end and the passenger side of the vehicle were smashed in.

The OPP is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
