If you’re born to be wild and in the Town of Oakville, your motorcycle better not be excessively loud or you’ll have to pay the price.

The Lakeshore in Oakville is a hot spot for riders, but Councillor Cathy Duddeck told 680News the noise is out of control.

“The sound is just horrendous,” Duddeck said.

The noise bylaw has been updated to include motorcycles — they can’t exceed 92 decibels.

The bylaw will come into effect on July 1, in order to allow for a public education and awareness campaign.

Bob Ramsay, president of the Motorcycle and Moped Industry Council, is okay with that.

“Rather than having a bad image that is associated with really loud motorcycles, we prefer to take this proactive approach,” Ramsay said.

The fines range from $400 to $25,000 for the first offence. The maximum fine is $50,000 for a second offence.
