TORONTO, Ont. – The man who lobbied for Toronto to host the 2015 Pan Am Games is now warning the costs of preparing for the games is increasing at a rapid pace.

Paul Henderson predicts that when every bill is tallied, hosting the games will top more than $4 billion.

He adds that doubling up on venues and running the Pan Am Games and the Paralympic Games simultaneously would save a lot of money.

Henderson also advised against building news swimming pools and a velodome.

Bid Chair David Peterson responded by telling the Toronto Sun that Henderson’s dire predictions for the cost of the games are “incorrect.”
