Buddy and Pedro have moved on.
The supposedly same-sex African penguins at the Toronto Zoo who became international celebrities when their story went viral last month are now courting lady penguins.
Buddy is actively mating with his girlfriend and Pedro is working on it, according to a Toronto Zoo curator, Tom Mason.
“His prospective mate is a little shy, in the group she’s the one that’s always a little standoffish,” Mason explained.
Even though they were best buds and nested together, they were split up so they could breed with females.
Zoo officials said Pedro and Buddy have had no issues getting over their “bromance.” In fact, they believe that penguin chicks could happen as early as January or February.
