1,000 Christmas trees sold in charity sale

TORONTO, Ont. – 680News teamed up with Citytv’s “Breakfast Television,” Friday, to help raise money for the Daily Bread Food Bank by selling Christmas trees.

The sale, which is taking place at Yonge-Dundas Square, started at 5:30 a.m. and sold 1,000 trees by around 9 a.m.

“I think it was just under $14,000 last year and I’m sure we’ve done that and a little bit more because people have been very generous, giving $20 when they only had to give $10, and all the trees are gone!,” Gail Nyberg, executive director of the Daily Bread Food Bank said.

The trees were donated by the Home Depot and all proceeds went to the Daily Bread Food Bank.
