Spectators at a marine reserve south of San Fransisco were shocked when an Eastern Pacific Red Octopus hoisted itself out of its tank and wandered about on dry land.
After about two minutes, he wobbled about on his eight legs, spit out a half-eaten crab and then wandered back into his tidal pool and disappeared.
Experts said octopi in captivity often escape their enclosures.
