Canada’s newest celebrity couple is breaking up and the internet is all abuzz.

Pedro and Buddy are the Toronto Zoo’s ‘gay’ male penguin sweethearts who built a nest together at the Toronto Zoo. They are rare African penguins, who were brought to the zoo about a year ago for the precise purpose of breeding with females.

Some Torontonians say “don’t separate them, celebrate them!”

Some feel they should be made honourary mascots of Toronto’s gay pride parade.

Zoo officials feel this story is being overblown, they believe the two male penguins are tight… but not that tight.

The story is getting worldwide attention – including late night host Jimmy Kimmel who is calling it “Brokeback Iceberg.”
