Former Occupy protester calls Vancouver movement off-topic

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A former Occupy protestor feels those camping at the Vancouver Art Gallery have lost track of what they are fighting for. He says the people who are breaking rules and hassling first responders are asking for things that are never going to happen.

Wes Kirk tells us at first, it seemed like a real opportunity for concrete change. He says the atmosphere on October 15th was totally different; there were teachers, labour reps, and other professionals.

“The sign I was holding said ‘I have a good union job, and I want you to have one too.’ But I still have to go to work and I can’t camp but I spent as much time there as I could,” he explains.

“It’s become a fight over Vancouver issues… and the fight in Vancouver has become a fight over Vancouver, not a fight for what is going on in the rest of the Occupy movement,” he explains.

He adds a lot of the issues are extreme and sometimes off-topic.
