Ontario New Democrats to put a pricetag on campaign promises

TORONTO – Ontario’s New Democrats are going to reveal the cost of their campaign promises today.

They’ve set up a media briefing to outline the cost of the party’s so-called “Plan for Affordable Change.

The New Democrats released their platform in June.

The platform promises more funding for health care, an increase in the minimum wage to $11 an hour, and the removal of the HST from gasoline along with hydro and home heating bills.

It also pledges to freeze transit fares, raise corporate taxes and eliminate ambulance fees for people who need to be transported to hospital.

NDP leader Andrea Horwath has been the only leader on the playing field so far this weekend with a campaign event in Fort Erie but her rivals are back today after taking Saturday off.

Premier Dalton McGuinty campaigns in Toronto while Conservative leader Tim Hudak will be in Brantford and Stoney Creek.
