A Washington DC doctor’s group wants to change the public’s perception of the hot dog.
The group has stated that the popular campfire and barbecue food is just as bad for your health as cigarettes.
In an attempt to get their message to the public, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine unveiled a billboard near the Indianapolis speedway this week with the advisory, “Warning — hot dogs can wreck your health.”
The group wants hot dogs to come with a warning label that helps consumers understand the health risk.
However, some other experts say hot dogs — while not a health food — are not harmful if consumed no more than twice a month.
