Cooling centres open in Toronto and GTA

During an extreme heat alert, Toronto’s seven cooling centres will be open. Below is a list:

  • Metro Hall – 55 John St. (24 hours)
  • East York Civic Centre – 850 Coxwell Ave. (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • North York Civic Centre – 5100 Yonge St. (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Driftwood Community Centre – 4401 Jane St. (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Etobicoke Olympium – 590 Rathburn Rd. (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • McGregor Community Centre – 2231 Lawrence Ave. E. (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Centennial Park Community Centre – 1967 Ellesmere Rd. (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Cooling centres are open in Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon.

Also, in York region, there are several communities where cooling centres are available.

MARKHAM:

The following Cooling Centre is open from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Mon. to Fri) and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
(Sat. and Sun.):
Markham Civic Centre, Main Entrance, Great Hall, 101 Town Centre Blvd

The following Cooling Centres are open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.:

The following Public Swimming Pools have extended their hours of operation to accommodate recreational swimming during the Extreme Heat Alert:
