Toronto police arrest man posing as cop

TORONTO, Ont. – A Kingston, Ont., man has been arrested in connection with the fake cop investigation in downtown Toronto.

Adrian McQuade, 62, is facing 14 counts of robbery charges after security video of a man, believed to be posing as a Toronto police officer, was released to the public.

Toronto police Const. Wendy Drummond told 680News phones have been ringing non-stop since the video was released.

“We had numerous calls, not only from additional victims, but from people that were able to identify him and provide us with information about him. So, we do believe there are going to be more victims,” Const. Drummond said.

Over the last few weeks, senior and elderly victims have been targeted, mainly in the Church and Wellesley streets area.

A man would approach them, tell them he was an undercover officer, accuse them of dealing drugs and then walk away with their wallets.
