Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista finishes first in All-Star balloting

TORONTO, Ont. – In 2010, Toronto Blue Jays batter Jose Bautista was on his way to hitting the most home-runs, but was not voted onto the All-Star team.

A year later, a much different story, as Bautista attracted a record number of votes from the fans.

And he just keeps doing it — Bautista cracked his MLB leading 27th home-run on Sunday, and apparently, everyone is noticing.

Bautista’s total of more than seven-million All-Star votes is the most-ever, aided and abetted by an aggressive Blue Jays marketing ploy with the voting buttons and T-shirts. But, he attracted huge numbers in the U.S. and in his home country, the Dominican Republic.

So far, he is on-pace to be even better than last year when he smoked 54 homers. He’s currently batting .331 and is on pace for 54 homers again.

Bautista is the fist Blue Jays since Carlos Delgado in 2003 to be voted to the All-Star team.
