Dyke March could be disrupted, anti-Israeli group plan to crash

TORONTO, Ont. – Pride weekend is here with thousands gathering in the village for the first big parade of the weekend.

Organizers of the Dyke March are expecting thousands for the event which leads up to tomorrow’s Gay Pride parade.

We know Rob Ford will not be there, but a new Toronto anti-Israeli group is expected to show up.

According to the Toronto Sun, “Dykes and Trans People for Palestine” want to show its solidarity with “Queers Against Israeli Apartheid,” who will not be marching in Sunday’s Pride parade.

Queers Against Israeli Apartheid decided to skip the parade after council vowed to cut funding to pride if the group participated.

Dykes and Trans People for Palestine’s Facebook page indicated that they are non-violent and do not intend to have any type of confrontation with police, however, they will be marching in protest.

This march is one of the biggest events over the pride weekend. Despite the potential controversy, 20,000 people are expected to join the march on Saturday.

Toronto police are reminding people that despite recent changes to Ontario’s liquor laws, (allowing people to have beverages outside of a beer tent at a licensed event) it does not mean you can drink on the streets during the parade.
