Composite sketch released of High Park sex assault suspect

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police have released a composite sketch of a suspect wanted in connection with a sexual assault in High Park.

A 23-year-old woman was walking in the park near Grenadier Pond at around 1:45 p.m. on June 16 when she was grabbed by a man and attacked.

The suspect is described as:

  • White
  • Early 20s
  • Short, curly brown hair

He was wearing a white t-shirt, blue shorts, a dark blue baseball cap and black sunglasses.

What has women in the area especially nervous was that the attack happened during daylight hours, when this park would have been busy.

“That’s scary, you don’t expect that stuff to happen in the middle of the day, it’s more something that would happen at night,” one woman who frequents the park said. “Especially in this area, usually you think it’s pretty nice and nothing like that would happen here.”

Police told 680News they believe the suspect was likely hiding in the bushes along a pathway near Grenadier Pond, waiting for a victim to pass by.

The victim was grabbed and groped, but police believe she would have suffered more serious harm had she not fought back and screamed for help, thus scaring off the attacker.
