Company to file traffic tickets for fee

TORONTO, Ont. – With the prime traffic-ticket season just around the corner, several companies are ready to step-in and do all the waiting and dirty work for you.

Fittingly, more than 30 per cent of all tickets for traffic infractions come during the June, July and August months, according to the Kanetix Comparison shopping service.

Fighting a traffic or speeding ticket can be extremely time consuming, with lines of up to two-hours commonplace in Toronto.

The long wait is exactly what Jay Kimmel-Fleishman, the CEO and founder of FileMyTickets.com, took into account when he started his company.

“Everybody has been wondering why they can’t file tickets online” Kimmel-Fleishman said. “The great news is – they now can.”

Travelling to a registered location and spending time waiting to fill-out paperwork just to get a court date for a traffic ticket can be a complicated process, but Kimmel-Fleishman told 680News his company makes things easy.

“Log onto FileMyTickets.com, they (customers) fill out all the appropriate forms on our site, and they pay a small fee of $12 to get their court date,” Kimmel-Fleishman said.

The $12 fee is for traffic infractions such as speeding or running a red-light, while filing a parking ticket will only cost you $7.

“There’s a lot more people fighting traffic tickets than fighting parking tickets, hence the reason why the line-ups are so long,” Kimmel-Fleishman said.

Employees from the website will wait in line for you, file your ticket and send you confirmation when a court date is assigned, trading you valuable time for a fee.

It is one of several companies currently offering a similar service.
