Road workers are asking drivers to slow down as a new construction season gets underway.
The province’s road workers have launched a new online safety campaign that has construction workers sharing their stories and family photos on Facebook and Twitter as a personal appeal to drivers.
“We are people that have to go home at the end of the day like everyone else,” said Jeff Gill, who’s been wearing a hard hat for 18 years.
Drivers are speeding through what is technically his office.
“If I came in and messed up your desk, you wouldn’t like it,” he explained. “We don’t like it when cars pass through our zone. We have to always be looking around and watching each others’ backs because of ignorance.”
