The chemicals found in non-sticks pans and food packaging have been linked to early onset menopause, according to researchers in West Virgina.
Women with the highest levels of Perfluorochemicals (PCFs), which are commonly found in food packaging, teflon pans and non-stain clothing, went through menopause at a younger age than average.
PCFs have also been linked to thyroid cancer, compromised immune systems and heart disease by previous research.
Dupont, the company that makes the majority of teflon products, said they will phase out the use of PFCs by 2015.
