Dead baby found in London, England, hotel room traced to Barrie, Ont., girl

BARRIE, Ont. – Police say the body of a baby found in a London, England, hotel has been linked to Barrie, Ont.

London Metropolitan Police found the remains of a full-term baby inside a hotel room last Saturday.

Investigators say the baby showed no signs of trauma and they determined the room had been previously occupied by students on a class trip from Barrie.

The students had left the hotel earlier that day and were already headed back to Toronto, so Interpol contacted Barrie police because London officials were concerned for the mother.

Barrie police located the mother, a 15-year-old Barrie girl, and she was taken to hospital where she was treated and later released.

A post-mortem on the baby is scheduled for Friday in London.
