TORONTO, Ont. – After a heated three-hour long debate, the Toronto District School Board has decided against installing flat-screen TVs in 66 Toronto schools.
Trustees were concerned about students being exposed to advertising.
Under a pilot project, four downtown high schools have used the hallway TVs to air announcements, exam schedules and student-generated content.
Some trustees want to re-visit the idea in April.
If the program was expanded, the board stood to net $100,000 from their share of the advertising revenue.
