Toronto firefighters battle 2 early morning blazes; no injuries reported

TORONTO – Toronto firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze in the city’s east end early this morning.

The flames broke out just after 6 a.m. at a home on Sutherland Drive near Eglinton Avenue and Laird Drive.

Fire officials say the house was under construction and no one was home at the time of the blaze.

All neighbouring homes were evacuated and crews on the scene say a hydro transformer was involved.

Earlier, fire crews spent about 45 minutes containing and knocking down a two-alarm blaze in Parkdale.

The fire broke out on the fourteenth floor of an apartment building on West Lodge Ave.
