TORONTO, On. – We call them the Christmas holidays, but in many cases it’s an incredibly busy and dangerous time on the roadways.
All of the pre-holiday hoopla like the constant Christmas worries over presents, parties, and the holiday meal, can cause high stress levels for many people.
“With all this disorganization, trying to organize schedules – so although it’s illegal, they use cellphones, texting in the car, rushing around shop-to-shop, mall-to-mall, and it’s a recipe for potential disaster on the roads,” Dr. Mark Berber, Toronto psychiatrist, said.
He also suggests turning on gentle soothing music, taking a deep breath, and realizing there’s nothing you can change.
“Take it one day at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself with things that are unnecessary,” he said.
Already this season, the Greater Toronto Area has seen multiple collisions, including a six-car pile-up on the highway.
