City considers three per cent garbage fee hike

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto residents could pay more to have their trash picked up in the new year.
The city is considering a three per cent hike.
The Toronto Sun reported that if approved, homeowners would pay another $9 a year for a medium bin, $12 more for a large bin and $14 for an extra-large trash bin.
The planned nine-per cent water rate increase will go ahead, as well as the money is needed to fix the city’s aging infrastructure.
