Quitting smoking increases happiness: Study

WASHINGTON D.C. – American researchers have found yet another good reason for smokers to quit the habit, as a new study shows it improves people’s moods.

The research looked at approximately 240 men and women trying to quit, and found those who managed to quit and stick with it for 28 weeks were the happiest.

Those who quit temporarily were happy while not smoking, but their mood darkened when they gave into temptation.

Researchers suggested that even if some report using tobacco to ease stress and boost their mood, it is most likely to have the opposite effect.
