Home Depot recalling some holiday LED light strings

TORONTO, Ont. – Home Depot Canada has recalled all holiday LED light strings sold between October 1 and November 18 of this year, due to quality issues.

The company said the lights simply do not meet the Home Depot’s quality standards.

However, according to a news release on Friday evening, Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited will not be able to exchange LED light strings for old incandescent strings at Festive Light Exchange events this weekend.

Instead, customers who bring in two old inefficient festive light strings will be given a gift card from the store, worth $15.

The exchanges will be held on Saturday in the following locations:

Riverside District
The Mustard Seed – 791 Queen St. E at Strange St. (West of CN tracks)
11 AM – 2 PM

Don Valley East (MPP Caplan)
Sloane Public School – Sloane Ave. (between Lawrence and Eglinton, West of Victoria Park)
2 – 4 PM

Wexford Heights
The Westford Mall Plaza – 2131 Lawrence Ave. E. [parking lot at Food Basics)
3 – 5 PM

**Home Depot says there will only be 500 gift cards per location.**
